President Weah Threatens to Dismiss any Public Official Who Violates His Pro-poor Agenda

Monrovia-Liberia-President George Weah has threatened to remove any government appointee who does not perform well in line with his pro poor agenda.

The decision by the Liberian leader, followed his first cabinet meeting with heads of government ministries Wednesday, after he named the Finance Minister as head of the special economic recovery committee.
During the meeting, President Weah mandated Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel Tweh to submit an economic recovery plan within three weeks.

President Weah further instructed heads of government ministries and agencies to submit a practical plan of actions that is attainable to the special economic recovery committee in two weeks.
Meanwhile, President Weah has challenged his Cabinet to remain focused, patriotic, selfless and resolved regarding problem-solving.

“Our approach to addressing problems will enable us rapidly achieve our goals for the greater good of the people. You will be judged effectively on account of your performance and tangible results,” the Liberian leader told members of Cabinet at their maiden meeting.

President Weah said, Cabinet Ministers who fail to deliver consistent with the government’s pro-poor agenda risk replacement.

The assembly was President Weah’s first historic cabinet meeting as Chief Executive since his inauguration on January 22, 2018 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia before a joyous audience of foreign Heads of State, Special delegations and dignitaries.
