New Education Minister Attributes Liberia’s Failure To lack of Solid Education System’’

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-New Education Minister Ansu Sonii has attributed Liberia’s failure to the lack of solid education in the country.

According to him if education is prioritized under the Weah-Taylor administration, it will help to minimize the suffering facing the ordinary people.

The minister’s comments run contrary to the Coalition for Democratic Change campaign message that educated people failed the country and that education was not Liberia’s problem but love for country.

Speaking recently in Monrovia, Minister Sonii wondered why a nation like Liberia that is gifted with so many natural resources will have its citizens still living below the poverty line in Africa.

He maintained that the only way Liberians can benefit from their natural resources is when quality education is acquired to enhance responsible decision.

The statement by the new education minister also speaks to President George Weah recent visit to Nigeria which has been widely speculated that he had gone to arrange for the importation of 6,000 teachers to Liberia; speculations the Liberian leader have so far clarified.

Upon his return from the Nigerian Capital, Abuja, President Weah said  Liberia’s education system is facing difficult situation and at such he will appeal to other countries to help improve the sector.

According to President Weah, his request made was only intended for the Nigerian Government to send educational expertise the beef up the educational sector of Liberia.
