President Weah warns Government Officials against merrymaking

By  Varney Dukuly

Monrovia-President George Weah is admonishing officials of government to desist from wasting money on merrymaking and redirect their finances towards improving the lives of the less fortunate people.

He said it is unfortunate for officials of government and other well-meaning Liberians to be spending thousands of dollars to purchase alcoholic beverages while less fortunate kids languish in the streets to support their education.

The Liberian leader is at the same time urging Liberians who are privileged in society to use their finances to help those in need especially the children.

Speaking Wednesday in Monrovia when he officially launched the Presidential Special Charity Fundraising Program held at the City Hall, the Chief Executive then lauded Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee for the ideas geared towards improving the lives of the ordinary people.

The amount of Three Hundred and Thirty Three Thousand US dollars and 8.4 million Liberian dollars was generated far above the targeted revenue of Three Hundred Thousand United States Dollars.
