Monrovia-The Executive Branch of the Liberian Government has reached a resolution that will see no official of government earning over 7,800 US dollars.

The resolution was reached at a cabinet meeting held by President Weah Wednesday.

Liberians have repeatedly complained about a few people earning high salaries in government in a crumbling economy.

Presidential spokesman Sam Mannah told OK News that the new measure will come into effect at the beginning of the 2018/2019 fiscal year.

Mr Mannah also revealed that highest earners of the Executive Branch will see a ten percent deduction of their salaries while middle level earners will have a 7.5 percent deduction.

According to Mr Mannah, low earners will receive a 5 percent and 3.5 percent reduction respectively.

The Press Secretary clarified that the measures will not affect civil servants.

The move by the Executive may not heap more pressure on the Legislature which has long been dodgy on the reduction of the huge salaries and benefits of its members.
