Liberia Ex-President Sirleaf receives South Africa’s highest honor

 Monrovia-Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has received another honor referred to as Oliver Tambo order of companions given by the South African Government.

The Oliver Tambo order of companions is South Africa highest honor given by the President of South Africa to foreign citizens who have promoted South African interests and aspirations through co-operation, Solidarity and support.

The honor given to the former Liberian Chief Executive came days after she was awarded as the first female of the Mo Ibrahim prize for achievement in African leadership.

Presenting the award to former President Johnson Sirleaf in Monrovia at her residence on behalf of his government Wednesday, South African Ambassador to Liberia, V.P Moodley said the former President deserves the award, given her contribution in addressing the plights of women and girls in Liberia.

For her part, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf commended the South African government for the highest honor bestowed on her.

According to her, she was excited to receive such honor especially in her own country where she has impacted the lives of young women and girls in Liberia.
