Monrovia-Two persons have died as a result of Lassa fever outbreak in Margibi County, republic of Liberia.
The report also states that fifty persons are currently placed under surveillance as close contact to the outbreak.
According to the head of Margibi County health team, Dr. Myers Parjebo, the epidemic broke out on May 5 of this year involving a 56 year old man and a 35 year old pregnant woman.
Dr. Parjebo who said there exists treatment for Lassa fever in the county, is however calling on citizens to observe preventive measures while urging them to urgently visit the nearby health centers whenever they experience symptoms of the disease.
Our reporter in the County, Emmanuel Sensee said as a result of the outbreak, citizens have expressed fear and are demanding the Kakata City Corporation to closely monitor sanitation and hygiene practices in various communities.
