Pres. Weah warns appointed officials against public gossip

By Olive Stevenson

Monrovia-President George Weah has warned public officials against gossip in the public.

President Weah’s comment is in reaction to an alleged tussle involving Commerce minister Wilson Tarpeh and his Deputy.

According to the Liberian leader, each official of government is subject to respecting one another.

He added that gossip undermines a peaceful coexistence in which ideas from everyone should be considered for the forward march of the Country.

He made the assertions at the ongoing Cabinet retreat in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

At the same time, the President has called on all cabinet members to use either the E-government system or regular way of paying their taxes as it is pivotal to the growth and development of the Country.

The Liberian President also cautioned members of cabinet to be proactive and work in the interest of the Liberian people.

The president emphasized the need to adopt expediency in work mode, noting that the government is in power to seek the welfare of its people. According to him at the end of the retreat a decision will be reached, that his administration will work with in the next six months.

The cabinet retreat was attended by ministers, deputy ministers, Law makers, and head of Government Agencies among others.
He at the same time said findings from the five member committee set up to probe into allegations reported by global witness will be executed to the letter. According to him anyone held accountable that person will be dealt with according to the law .
