Monrovia-The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) is saddened by the death of former United Nations Secretary General, Koffi Annan.
Koffi Anna died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 after a period of illness in Geneva, Switzerland. He was eighty years (80) old.
During his time in office, Koffi Annan oversaw the formation of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) which disarmed then ruthless warlords of the west African country’s brutal civil wars. UNMIL under Anna’s supervision stabilized Liberia and conducted in 2005 the general elections that brought Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to power.
The Press Union of Liberia has described Koffi Annan as the latest genuine ambassador of Pan Africanism. Annan the Union insists has left sub-Sharan Africa believing that it is even more a competent member of the global community, evergreen with reservoir of talents and gifts which can be cultivated for the good of humanity.

The Press Union of Liberia is meanwhile urging all journalists to highlight the contributions of Koffi Annan toward the stability Liberia is currently enjoying.
Meanwhile, the Press Union of Liberia has appointed its 2018 Anniversary Preparatory Committee.
According to a release, those named are: Bernard Waritay- Chairman, Eric Kennedy- Co- chairman and Jallah Grayfield- Secretary.
Others include: Malcolm Joseph, James Kiazolu, FabineKwiah, Jennie Fallah, Musa Kanneh, Carolyn Myers Zoduah, Malcolm Scott and Victoria Wesseh.
This year’s celebration of the Press Union of Liberia Anniversary is being aligned with discussions on a draft collective bargaining agreement between employees and employers in the media industry in Liberia.
