Angry fans of Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on social media blasting President Weah for featuring in Tuesday’s match

Monrovia-Angry fans of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles have taken on social media, specifically Twitter venting out their anger against the Nigerian football Federation and President George Weah following Tuesday’s friendly.

Nigeria took on Liberia in Monrovia but instead of a traditional friendly game, the match was billed to honor President Weah and formally retire the No 14 jersey of the former international, one-time Ballon d’Or winner and FIFA World Player of the Year in 1995.

President Weah and his former teammate, 48-year-old James Debbahstarted the game.

Biola Kazeem tweeted, saying the Liberian leader is a major disappointment.

According to him, the constant appropriation of Liberia’s platforms to fulfill his personal objectives was a disgrace, saying he had no business playing the match.

Kelvin Odanze tweeting said Dr. Weah playing for Liberia was a real joke and equally disrespect to the Super Eagles.

“If he wanted to have some fun,” Kelvin said the former Liberia international should have invited his fellow ex-players to play an exhibition game.

Another Nigerian, John Benneth said it was unfortunate to have taken full time professionals to play what he terms a beer parlor friendly in Liberia with a bunch or retirees, George Weah and James Debbah.
