Former Warlord Supports President Boakai Quest in Establishing War and Economic Crime Court

Monrovia, Liberia – General Butt Naked, a former warlord who is now a humanitarian and gospel preacher, warns the leaders of the nation’s main opposition political parties to back President Boakai’s efforts to establish the war and economic crime court.

Evangelist Blahyi said that the family members of the war victims will feel a huge sense of relief from the court’s establishment.

Evangelist Blahyi, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Monrovia, vehemently disagreed with those citizens who have given up on their quest to establish the War and Economic Crime Court in the nation.

He made the case that Liberians who took part in the nation’s civil war have to account for their acts rather than leaving with impunity.

Blahyi claimed that the Court’s establishment will remove the climate of impunity and serve as a warning to anyone thinking about using violence against the government. Even while he acknowledged that the Court’s establishment is essential, he stated that leaders of political parties, including those in the 55-foot Legislature, ought to support President Boakai in his efforts to establish the court, noting that it will help the country grow and develop and have certain economic advantages.

He mentioned that some citizens still live with trima as a result of their parents being slaughtered before them during the conflict. “When the court is established, no Liberian will have the courage to bring war here or to protest on behalf of a warlord.”

The remarks made by evangelist Blahyi coincide with an audio leak with President Joseph Boakai and Allen White, the main proponent of the nation’s war and economic crime court.

Between 1989 and 2003, there were 250,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the war. A million individuals departed the nation, and up to 20,000 kids were enlisted as troops nationwide.
