Monrovia, Liberia- Several stakeholders have adopted a four count resolution for new road map of peace and reconciliation in Liberia.

The adopted resolution which was submitted to President George Weah came from the end of a two day National Peace and Reconciliation Conference held at the Monrovia City hall.

Reading the resolution following the end of the three day event, Liberia’s Peace Ambassador William Richard Tolbert III named the strengthening of the road map for peace and reconciliation in the eight counties through the TRC report.

According to Amb Tolbert, the delegates also agreed that the government mobilize funding from the county social development funds in order to implement similar road map in the remaining seven counties of Liberia.
He also indicated that the delegates also called for the speedy passage of the local governance and land rights bills before the National Legislature.

Also speaking during the adoption of the resolution, Internal Affairs Minister Varney Sirleaf commended President George Weah for getting fully involved in the strategic road map for peace and reconciliation in Liberia.

Minister Sirleaf further called for the support of the International community towards the implementation of the strategic road map for peace and reconciliation which was adopted from the end of the two day conference.

Monrovia, Liberia– Press Union of Liberia President highlights the need for better salaries for plantation workers while urging government to woo more investors to the country.

Charles Coffey also wants the Liberian Government to ensure that those working at various plantations across the Country can earn better salaries themselves.

The PUL President says it is unfortunate for people to work for years and they are retired with no benefits.

He made the assertions when he served as keynote speaker at the 3rd Inaugural program of the LIBINCO Staff Association (LISA) at the palm plantation in District # 4, Grand Bassa County.

Charles Coffey is encouraging workers to impress their employers with diligent work as the institutions need to survive.

Monrovia, Liberia– the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), with support from USAID-funded Revenue Generation Growth Generation (RG-3) has officially launched an Electronic Filing (e-filing) platform for the annual filing of Business Income Tax Returns.

The e-filing platform is a system which enables taxpayers to easily file Business Income Tax Returns, will initially target corporate entities and later extend to other institutions.

According to an LRA release, the user-friendly platform which is available on the LRA website is also accessible offline at some point during tax filing transactions.

At the official launch of the platform on Monday, LRA Deputy Commissioner General for Technical Affairs, Decontee T. King-Sackie described the launch of the platform as “a vital step forward” in promoting voluntary compliance.

Commissioner Sackie said the launch of the e-filing program is part of sustained efforts by the LRA to modernize the tax environment and improve voluntary compliance.

She urged taxpayers to fully make use of the system to file their annual corporate returns on time with ease.

Madam King-Sackie praised RG3 for its support to the LRA in transforming revenue collection for the Government and people of Liberia.

Speaking earlier, RG3’s Performance Improvement Advisor Mohammed Swaray, lauded the setting up of the online tax filing platform and indicated that the service will greatly ease tax filing in Liberia.

He assured that the RG-3 remains committed to supporting the LRA in its efforts to transform the tax environment in mobilizing domestic revenue for Liberia.

The event which took place at the LRA Headquarters in Paynesville was graced by representatives of major private corporations and businesses operating in Liberia.

Monrovia, Liberia– The House of Representatives has held in contempt authorities of the Farmington Hotel for grossly ignoring an appearance invitation.

The House on Tuesday cited authorities of Farmington Hotel based on a communication from Representative Ivar Jones alleging bad labor practices against local employees of the entity.

But the Hotel’s Management in a communication to that august body Thursday unsigned by an administrator noted that the General Manager had left the country to attend to some family issues.

The Hotel’s communication requested reappearance in April upon the arrival of the General Manager.

Following the reading of said communication, the House of Representatives in a motion by Lofa County District 3 Representative Clarence Massaquoi angrily termed the position of the Hotel as gross disrespect to that body.

Monrovia, Liberia– the Liberian Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has boasted of her contribution towards the adjudication of justice in Liberia.

Speaking during the dedication of the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Bomi County Friday, former President Sirleaf said she was pleased to have subsidized a befitting environment to house the arbitration of justice for the Liberian people.

Madam Sirleaf called on party complainants to ensure justice is neither delayed nor denied, while challenging Members of the Judiciary to fast track cases accordingly.

According to the former Liberian President, the rule of law can also be respected if citizens always recognize the judicial branch of Government.

Monrovia, Liberia – The Inspector General of Police lifts ban on commercial motorcycling to ply certain major streets, including ELWA to Red-light and up to the Freeport of Monrovia.

The decision by the LNP followed a mass meeting with commercial motorcyclists at the Samuel K Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

The plying of motorbikes by commercial motorcyclists which was halted during the regime of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf witnessed a lot of accidents in several quarters of the city and its environs.

Speaking at the meeting, Inspector General Patrick Sudue mandated Liberian commercial motorcyclists to ride from Red Light to ELWA Junction with a caveat of only the driver and a passenger.

Inspector Sudue said the same opportunities are afforded to them from Red Light to Freeport.
