Giving the party’s year end message at UP Headquarters during the weekend, Chairman Paye stated that the poor governance system introduced by the CDC-led government in just 11 months has proven that there is still hope for the Unity Party.
According to him, the Government of Liberia under President Weah in a short period of time has sparked more controversies, confusions, problems, and continues to cast more aspersions on Liberia’s future.
He mentioned that there are indicators which show that President Weah’s government is unable to fight corruption, as well as tackle impunity and has further misused public resources for his own personal aggrandizement.
Chairman Wilmot Paye who was reinstated to his position by the Executive Committee Members following months of recusal added that the Unity Party will in the 2020 mid-term senatorial election obtain more seats in order to restore hopes to Liberians.
“That is why government ministries and agencies are rapidly becoming unproductive. Civil servants are demoralized and public offices are closed by 3:pm from Monday to Friday.
Nevertheless, they have a Pro-Poor agenda that can not allow an audit of past officials in order for Liberians and World to know what they inhereted from the United Party led-administration. We say President Weah, please audit the Unity Party; because, your will follow later.”
Meanwhile Paye has called on President Weah to live by statement contained in his inauguration speech delivered in January this year.
He said the Liberian leader among other things promised to protect and defend the Constitution of Liberia.
However, the Standard Bearer of the Opposition Unity Party Joseph Boakai has admonished partisans of the Unity Party to remain committed to a one cause in changing the country not in a too distance future.
Ambassador Boakai said he is aware of the difficulty that Liberians are going through, noting that there is still hope for the future.
Delivering his year’s end message at the UP headquarters in Congo Town during the weekend, the former Liberian Vice President mentioned that Unity Party will continue to be vibrant political institution in the country.
“We are here to place the light to tell you that Unity Party remains Vibrant and continue to seek the interest of this Country,” Ambassador Boakai said.
He then commended partisans of UP for always adhering to the mandate of the party when called upon.
He meanwhile called on President Weah to listen to advises that help to move the country forward.
