Monrovia-United States ambassador accredited to Liberia, Christine Elder has promised the US government’s commitment to improving the learning environment for students at the A.M. Dogloitti College of Medicines.
Ambassador Elder said with the introduction of the new E-Learning platform implemented by the U.S. Health Resources Administration, students at the college will remain actively engaged with research aimed at improving their learning ability.
According to Ambassador Christian Elder, the U.S. Government’s work in Liberia is to improve the general health status of Liberians and to strengthen its health care delivery system.
She said the E-Learning platform used at the AM Dogloitti College represents an important contribution towards achieving that goal by improving the world-class preparation of medical students and faculty and attracting more Liberians to the profession.
The U.S. Ambassador made the statement Tuesday, during a high-level visit to observe the new E-Learning platform at the College.
Also speaking to reporters at the close of the visit, Dr. Lawrence Sherman, Assistant Dean of the College disclosed that the faculty of the college is working with the University of Liberia to develop an independent financial management system for the institution.
While alarming about challenges in running the medical institution, Dr. Sherman noted that the financial management system when instituted will increase funding that would go towards priorities of the College.
The A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine, founded in 1968 as part of the University of Liberia, is the country’s only medical college which has a five-year medical pre-service program modeled on the U.S. training model.
The Medical College has graduated 392 medical practitioners since its inception in 1968, with continued growth in the past 10 years.
