WAFU Tournament to be held in Honor of President Weah

Monrovia,Liberia: The president of the Liberian Football Association, Musa Hassan Bility said the WAFU competition will be used to honor President George Weah after his playing days.

Speaking at the official draw of the Competition at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Paynesville on Monday, Mr. Bility, who is also WAFU’s 1st Vice President, outlined reasons for which the LONESTAR number 14 Jersey should be retired.

According to him, since the retirement of President Weah from football, no symbol shows his retirement from football.

He added that this is the opportunity for the Country to show respect to the soccer legend.

Meanwhile , Liberia has been drawn in zone-A against Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau,  and Sierra Leone while Senegal, Mali, Gambia and Guinea will lock horn with each other in zone-B.

The official kick-off of the competition is slated for April 24 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville City between Liberia and Cape Verde Island.
