ECC at a stakeholders’ thematic dialogue in Monrovia Tuesday sought the amendment of section 2.1 and 2.2 of the new election law.

ECC’s Chairman Oscar Bloh wants the Commissioners of the Board of NEC to be reduced from seven to five persons.

He further called for the start of voting to commence from 7am to 5pm in order to enable polling staffers complete the voting processes early.

He at the same time requested the country’s electoral body to provide the draft of the voter roll update listing before the finalization of the original one.

The ECC’s Boss at the same time prayed the indulgence of the Legislature to draft a new political party law in line with Article 84 of the Liberian Constitution.

Oscar Bloh also stressed the need for a referendum on the judicial power accorded by the NEC in resolving election disputes.

For his part, the Chairman of the House’s Committee on Election, Representative Alex Grant promised to convey concerns raised by the ECC to the legislature for action.

According to Rep Grant, the Legislature was also in the process of making several reforms to the new election law of the country ahead of two crucial elections.
