Monrovia-Some family members of a motorcyclist allegedly shot to death by a police commander are calling for death penalty on the officer.
Commander Roosevelt Demeh of the Soul Clinic depot reportedly shot Beyan Lamine around the Soul Clinic Junction area about 10pm on Sunday night.
Reasons for the shooting are yet unknown, but family members Konah Togba and Alice Momo disclosed that some officers including Roosevelt chased Beyan into the yard and manhandled him.
According to the relatives of the deceased, despite their pleas to the officers to free their brother, Commander Demeh allegedly shot Beyan at the back of his neck while attempting to flee into their home.
Konah Togba and Alice Momo also revealed that Commander Demeh has been harboring issues against their deceased brother since he Demeh was reported by Beyan for disorderly police conduct.
The ladies noted that Roosevelt was penalized by police authorities for that action then, a reason for which he may have been harboring malice.
Motorcyclists who spoke to OK FM called on law enforcers to act speedily in prosecuting Commander Roosevelt Demeh and ensure that he is served justice in accordance with law.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police says it has begun investigation into the alleged Murder of motorcyclist Beyan Lamine in the Pipe line community.
Addressing a news conference on variety of security issues, Inspector General Patrick Sudue said his Commander of Soul Clinic, Roosevelt Deman was involved into a tussle with the Motorcyclist, but has not established what led to the tussle.
Inspector Sudue told the News Conference that if established that his officer wrongfully released the firearm on the civilian, he will be dealt with in accordance with law.
