$3m Worth of Narcotic drugs seized at Monrovia Central Prison

Monrovia-In less than a week, the Bureau of Corrections has seized another huge quantity of drugs and mobile phones from the Monrovia Central Prison.

Speaking at a Press Conference on Monday, the Assistant Minister for the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Eddie Tarwalli said the drugs worth more than Three Million Liberian Dollars was confiscated from one of the cells at the Prison while the mobile phones were allegedly used by inmates to dupe Liberians.

According to Minister Tarwalli, Prison serves as correctional facility and not area to trade narcotic substances and harmful practices. He assured that Officers who are involved in the trade of the substances will be investigated and subsequently prosecuted.

The Assistant Justice Minister also added that the search for drugs and other harmful substances will continue at other Prisons facilities around the Country in subsequent time.

Some of drugs confiscated include Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Tubes among others.

The Drugs have meanwhile been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
