Monrovia-Report from Margibi County says 89 persons are currently being monitored for contracting the Lassa fever virus.

According to the report, 42 of those coming in contact with the fever are from Kakata City while 47 come from Gibi District in Margibi County.

A local reporter in the County said the 89 Lassa fever contacts are quarantined at their various houses and are being monitored by health workers daily.

Emmanuel Sensee disclosed that residents of affected communities are expressing fear over those being monitored at their various homes adding that it poses further threat to the movement of others.

He said Citizens are blaming Health authorities in the County for turning over a Lassa fever body to a local funeral home which has led to the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, Health authorities in Margibi County have named the lack of adequate logistics and funding to curtail the Lassa fever virus in the County.

They are however calling on national Government to provide needed support towards the fight against the outbreak.
