Monrovia-The Ministry of National Defense through the Armed Forces of Liberia has provided seventy thousand United States dollars, covering final compensation to the bereaved family of Ousmane Sheriff.
Sheriff of the AFL met his untimely death after three multiple mortar attacks by Malian rebels while serving a UN peacekeeping mission in Mali.
The late soldier’s remains were flown into the country in a United Nations plane escorted by a delegation from Mali and has since been laid to rest.
At the presentation of death benefit to the bereaved family Tuesday at the BTC, the AFL Chief of Staff Prince C. Johnson III said that life is priceless.
Chief of Staff Johnson further described the fallen soldier as one who was passionate and had love for country.
Speaking on behalf of the bereaved Family, Boakai Sheriff lauded Government through the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia for standing with the family during the time of bereavement.
Sheriff added that even though their love one died while serving peace mission in Mali, government did not leave them by the way side.
According to him, government included the bereaved family in every aspect leading to his burial and compensation.
Meanwhile Deputy Defense Minister for Administration Olandrus Dickson who expressed sympathy and empathy to the bereaved family committed Liberia to foreign peace mission.
