Minster Tweah in a LIVE telephone interview with OK FM on Thursday, September 21,2018 said Information Minister Eugene Nagbe was misquoted by the media on the money being investigated.
Tweah however blasted the media, saying Minister Nagbe indicated to the press that it was 15 billion printed and not 16 billion as being speculated in the public.
Tweah accused the media of adding extra 1 billion dollars on the information reported.
“How can a misinterpretation of a minister statement now be the basis for an investigation, because minister Nagbe said 15 billion dollars is what was printed! you journalist are on the radio putting one more billion there and saying that all of the money in the Country that was printed is what is missing? The total amount of money printed is 15 billion and not 16 billion. Quote me and forget about statement from the Information minister,” He said.
Even though Minister Nagbe serves as official Spokesperson for government, the minister said the public should now listen to him and forget about what was said earlier by the MICAT boss.
Tweah cautioned the media to begin reporting from now on that no money went missing.
According to him, the disappearance of 16 billion will automatically lead to the total collapse of the economy, and there would be no functional country.
Also speaking via telephone was CDC lawmaker Solomon George, who told the OK Conversation that it was unfortunate for Minister Tweah to indicate that no money went missing.
Representative George questions why the government would investigate if no money has gone missing.
George wants all those linked to the saga placed behind bars.
” President Weah should not cover some people, expose them! look, my colleagues Governor Weeks, Finance Minister Samuel Tweh supposed to be in Jail by now. He must be harass by some mosquitoes and the stink toilet; take them off their comfort and they will confess!” says Representative Solomon George.
Meanwhile, the Finance and Development Planning Minister has said at no time he informed the public that he earned half a million United States dollars while serving the African Development Bank.
Minister Tweah recently told an Information Ministry press briefing that he earned 500-thousand annually at the IMF, adding he did not come to government broke or insolvent.
The minister said he told the press briefing that he earned more than 100-thousand, and not 500-thousand.
OK FM still has in its possession the tape from the press briefing referenced by the Finance boss.
