I can be recalled  that on Thursday, September  20,2018, Liberia’s Finance and Development Minister Samuel Tweah has sharply reacted to ongoing debate on reports of missing container and bags of money from Liberia’s two ports of entry, terming the information as untrue.

Minster Tweah in a LIVE telephone interview with OK FM Thursday said Information Minister Eugene Nagbe was misquoted by the media on the money being investigated.

Tweah however blasted the media, saying Minister Nagbe indicated to the press that it was 15 billion that was printed and not 16 billion as being speculated in the public.

IREDD believes that Finance Minister Tweh undermined the ongoing investigation of the missing currency.

Government through its Information Minister Eugene Nagbe confirmed on the Voice of America that government was investigating reports of over 15 billion Liberia dollars going missing in thin air.

But Finance Minister Tweh has since debunked Minister Nagbe’s assertion, noting that no money has gone missing.

IREDD statement read by its Program Manager Bob Johnson added that Minister Tweh’s reaction leaves the public with no option but to believe that there is a sinister motive to conceal information about the missing currency.
