Monrovia, Liberia – Representative Frank Saah Foko, of Montserrad county district #9, has vowed to impeach President Joseph Nyumah Boaka should he break the Liberian law.
Speaking to a group of journalists on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Liberia National Aquaculture Authority, where he and other committee chairs had gone to carry out their oversight duties, the district #9 lawmaker stated that President Boakai’s first month in office had demonstrated his incapacity to drive the nation’s affairs, and that he was therefore drafting a letter to impeach the president on the grounds that he would be unfit to lead the nation for the next several years.
“We are going to make sure we impeach President Boakai if he proves to us in one month that he can not manage this country. One thing I can assure you, Mr. President, is that we will work with you, we are going to respect you, but one thing we will never accept from you is disrespecting our Constitution.”
”The president has twice failed to represent Liberians abroad.
Significant problems are prevailing in the area, and another president has visited to look for a solution, but the president did not show up. In numerous locations, they are breaking the law. Let’s examine the port of Buchanan and how a civil servant can be appointed. By law, no president should select someone for the managerial position at Road Funds. Is this the type of modification he mentioned? Does he come to save Liberia in this kind of rescue? The president needs to calm down, in my opinion; he is acting inappropriately and excessively.”
The legislator for district #9 stated that his choice was made with the good of the Liberian people in mind, not that of a political party, and that he would only cooperate with the president if the latter followed the law.
