Foreign Minister Beysolow Nyanti Establishes Special Committee to Review Placement of Foreign Service Officers

Monrovia, Liberia – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, announced on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the formation of a Special Committee tasked with reviewing issues and challenges brought forth by Foreign Missions in light of the recent placement of Foreign Service Officers to their various Missions between July 2023 and February 2024. The issue that has caused some officers to be rejected or returned has to be resolved immediately, she added.

The main goal of the Special Committee, according to a Foreign Ministry statement, is to carry out a thorough analysis of these officers’ installations and offer practical suggestions for guaranteeing adherence to all pertinent Foreign Service Manual laws and regulations. The Special Committee will also endeavor to put preventative measures in place so that similar problems don’t arise in the future.

“We recognize the critical role played by our Foreign Service Officers in advancing the interests of our nation on the global stage. The establishment of this Special Committee underscores our dedication to fostering a dynamic and responsive diplomatic corps, and I believe that this initiative will contribute to the continuous improvement of our foreign service operations,” said Minister Beysolow Nyanti.

Experienced diplomats and representatives from pertinent agencies, such as Ambassador George W. Wallace, Jr., who will serve as chairman, and Ambassador Jarjar M. Kamara, who will serve as co-chair, will make up the Special Committee.

Members include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ pertinent departments, the Civil Service Agency, Internal Audit, and Ambassadors Dr. Brahima D. Kaba and Ibrahim Nyei.
