Yekeh Kolubah accuses Witherspoon of handing president-elect Boakai LRD $10 million for donation.

Monrovia, Liberia – Rep. Yekeh Kolubah of Montserrado County District #10 has accused former CEO of Spoon Network Stanton Witherspoon of donating ten million Liberian dollars to president-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

Representative Kolubah forewarned officials at the General Auditing Commission (GAC) and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) to act swiftly on the issue.

The legislator from District 10 claimed that Witherspoon wants to be the only company importing rice into the country and that the former CEO of Spoon Network made the donation in order to bribe the new administration.

At the same time, Representative Kolubah accused the management of Mittal Steel, Top Steel Manufacturer, and Global Tracking and Maritime Solutions (GTMS) of inviting Joseph Boakai, Jr., to London, England, and Freedom, Sierra Leone, for an interest meeting.

He claimed that by allowing the president-elect’s son to travel privately to Sierra Leone and the UK, both institutions had committed grave mistakes. He added that, although it is true that some of these organisations require protection from the incoming administration, it is crucial to comprehend how these organisations operated under the previous administration.

Representative Kolubah stated that President-elect Joseph Boakai is surrounded by people who are going to deceive him during a press conference held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at his Capitol Hill office in Monrovia.

The District 10 Lawmaker has not yet visited the scene of the tragic petroleum tanker explosion in Totota, Lower Bong County, which resulted in the deaths of over 70 Liberians, despite his criticism. Tuesday, December 26, 2023, was the fatal event.
