Monrovia, Liberia – The Ruling Unity Party instructs County Chairpersons to submit comprehensive expenditure reports before National Secretariat into usage of controversial US$5,000 allotted to each district for inaugural celebration.
The head of the ruling Unity Party, Reverend Luther Tarpeh, has refuted claims once more that he and UP county leaders embezzled money meant for inaugural celebrations in each of Liberia’s 73 districts.
Prior to President Boakai’s inauguration, US$365 thousand was divided among the districts, with US$5,000 allocated to each district. However, several members have expressed concern that US$1,000 was taken out of the entire amount.
FrontPageAfrica revealed last week that Chairman Luther Tarpeh, acting independently of the other members, ordered the subtraction of US$1,000 from the US$5,000 allotted to each district.
Monday, January 29, 2024, the latest has been set for all county chairs to submit thorough spending reports of monies received by the National Secretariat.
