Ms. Mamie’s position as Free Goodwill Ambassador has been revoked by Liberia National Wheelchair Basketball Federation.

Monrovia, Liberia – Ms. Mamie Free Goodwill’s position as ambassador has been revoked by the Liberia National Wheel Chair Basketball Federation due to misrepresentation; nevertheless, she denies any misconduct.
Madam Mamie Free’s designation as the Liberia National Wheel Chair Basketball Federation’s Goodwill Ambassador has been terminated effective immediately, following the organization’s successful pre-tournament hosting.

According to a release dated February 21, 2024, signed by its Secretary General Klennious Blamo, Madam Free’s affiliation with the federation has also been terminated. The release further stated that Madam Free’s appointment by the Board of Directors of the federation was to represent the good image of the institution on the international scene by demonstrating a high degree of professionalism, accountability, and transparency, but she has practically become a self-seeking venture.

The release added, “The Liberia National Wheelchair Basketball Federation has come to the realization that Ms. Free’s endeavors and interactions with diaspora sponsors have not served the best interest of the federation, but rather that she has diverted all donations for her personal use and selfish desire in the name of the federation.”

The Liberia National Wheel Chair Basketball Federation (LNWBF) released a statement stating that due to Ms. Mamie Free’s unprofessional and self-centered actions, the organization’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee voted in a mass meeting on Monday, February 20, 2024, to revoke her Goodwill Ambassador status and to end all associations and affiliations with her.

The letter of withdrawal of status and termination of association, including a five-count resolution signed by executives of LNWBF, was served to Ms. Free on February 20, 2024, by the chairperson of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Florence Mamusu Thornes.

But responding to the information, Madam Free said she was already planning to resign her position due to several irregularities and what she also called threats against her life by the wife of Ambassador Lionel Johnson, President of the Liberia National Wheel Chair Basketball Federation.

Ms. Free acknowledged that the wife of the LNWBF President sent her a voice recording threatening her if she went to the media to explain about her husband regarding issues of the federation.
