United States VP Harris Chats with President Boakai

PROMISES US GOVERNMENT SUPPORT TO LIBERIA DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

Monrovia, Liberia – The Executive Mansion has reported that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday, February 26, 2024, received a congratulatory phone call from the Vice President of the United States of America, Madam Kamala Harris.

During their conversation, Vice President Harris praised President Boakai for the peaceful democratic transfer of power from one administration to another.

She praised the Liberian people in particular for their good behavior during the election process, which strengthened the country’s democratic credentials. Vice President Harris praised President Boakai for the speeches he gave in both his inauguration speech and his yearly address. In both speeches, the Liberian leader presented his revolutionary plans for the nation and made it clear that he would not tolerate corruption or other wrongdoing by the government.

She reiterated that Liberia’s efforts to address complex issues and create a resilient environment that promotes economic growth and national development have the unshakable support and commitment of the United States.

The US Vice President vowed that her country would support President Boakai’s administration, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and private sector investment.

Vice President Harris stated that she would be open to hearing President Boakai’s recommendations on steps the US could take to maintain peace and democracy in Liberia and the surrounding region.


She acknowledged that Liberia’s readiness to stand with the United States on important global problems was the real core of the exceptional bonds that bind the two nations together.

The Vice President’s resolve to collaborate with his administration was welcomed by President Boakai, who expressed his appreciation for her outreach. He notified Vice President Harris of the critical need for resuscitation as well as the serious economic and infrastructure difficulties facing the nation.

Over several decades, the two nations have enjoyed a long-standing bilateral connection. The US continues to be a longstanding ally of Liberia, offering significant assistance to several sectors.
