President Weah Consoles China

Monrovia, Liberia – Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that resulted in the death of at least 118 people and numerous injuries and missing people, President George Manneh Weah extended a condolence message to Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake that struck the People’s Republic of China’s Gansu and Qinghai Provinces on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, is the cause for the deaths and injuries.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, President George Manneh Weah offered Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, and the bereaved family his sincere condolences for the irreversible loss they had suffered. This was done on behalf of the government and people of Liberia, as well as in his own name.

The Liberian Leader then prayed that President Xi Jinping and the resilient people of China would find comfort, fortitude, and endurance during this difficult period of mourning and wished the injured people a speedy recovery.
