AS KOIJEE DEDICATES LONG-TERM LOYALTY TO THE BLUE REVOLUTION
New York, U.S.A – The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of Treasury has designated the mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee, for being responsible for or complicit in serious violations of human rights and for being a current government official responsible for or complicit in engaging in corruption, which includes the embezzlement of public funds, on Friday, December 8, 2023.
The Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, or GloMag, has made the designation possible and is in accordance with the U.S. Strategy on Countering Corruption, a fundamental national security interest of the United States. GloMag focuses on those who violate serious human rights and those who are involved in or accountable for major acts of corruption worldwide.
The United States government restates its unwavering dedication to advancing respect for human rights and holding those who violate such rights accountable.
In a related development, Mayor Koijee of Monrovia City declared that he will never be broken and that he will always be devoted to the Blue Revolution.
Mayor Koijee expressed his dedication to serving the Liberian people and the coalition for Democratic Change, or the “blue revolution,” on his Facebook page, even in the face of the sanctions imposed against him.
