Monrovia, Liberia – Samora Wolokolie has been appointed by President George Manneh Weah to be the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).
The 1986 Liberian Constitution requires the Liberian Senate to confirm appointments made late in the year, and that is what the Executive Mansion claims to have happened.
Thomas Doe Nah, who held the role since 2020, passed away last month after a brief illness.
Currently serving as the Deputy Minister of Finance for Development Planning, Dr. Wolokolie has held this role since the CDC administration began in 2018.
The public’s reservations about the nomination are quite grave. With less than a month to nominate someone to such a crucial role in the nation’s governance process, a large number of Liberians have urged the Liberian senate to reject the nominee.
