Albert Korvah cancels his Rivers Union contract

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberian international Albert Korvah has allegedly terminated his contract with Nigerian Club River United for an alleged failure to live up to their obligations. The Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United signed Albert Korvah in September 2022 on a three-year contract from Watanga FC, the then Champions of the LFA 1st division.

His transfer to Rivers Union was a result of his overwhelming performance during the 2022–2023 CAF Champions League preliminary qualifier between the Liberian Champions, Watanga FC, and Rivers Union of Nigeria. Rivers Union sailed through on a 3-1 aggregate; they won the first leg at home 3-0 but lost the return fixture 1-0 at the SKD. Following the fixtures, he immediately transferred to Rivers Union, but the amount is unknown.

“I regret to inform you that I have decided to immediately terminate my contract with Rivers United Football Club due to the unprofessional behavior of the team and their inability to fulfill their commitments. In our years together, the Rivers family gave me time and opportunities, and for that I am grateful. Those are moments I will always treasure. I’m wishing the group luck on all of their upcoming projects.”

The previous season, he was named the Nigerian league’s top foreign player. Albert is a right-winger with excellent speed, accurate passes, physical strength, skill at dribbling and hacking, and sound mechanics.
He is also capable of playing in competitive leagues, is fast and technically proficient, hard to watch, and can sign up at any time. Albert was also a part of Coach Ansumana Keita’s team that lost the last Group-A AFCON qualification match 3-0 in Rabat, Morocco, in November 2023.
