NEC Announces Boakai Winner of 2023 Presidential Election

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Elections Commission has declared Unity Party Standard Bearer Joseph Boakai the winner of the 2023 presidential elections in Liberia.

NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah said the Unity Party leader obtained 814,481 votes, amounting to 50.64%, while President Weah of the ruling CDC got a total of 793,914 votes, constituting 49.36%.

She said the total number of votes cast was one million, six hundred-eight thousand, three hundred, ninety-five, while invalid votes stood at twenty-five thousand, seven hundred, eighty-eight.

Meanwhile, the National Elections Commission Chairperson said its magistrates in lower and upper Nimba County have received complaints from the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change regarding some disagreements with the electoral process.
