Monrovia, Liberia – The government of Liberia through the Ministry of health will this Monday conduct a map up assessment of rehabilitation centers in the country in the fight against drugs and substance abuse.
Speaking on Friday at an Executive Mansion regular Press briefing, the Presidential Press Secretary Madam Kula Fofana disclosed that, the exercise is in line with the President mandate during his state of the nation address declaring Drugs and Substance abuse as a National Public health Emergency.
The Presidential Press Secretary told reporters that, the assessment exercise is to have a statistic on the mode of entry, who are the abusers and how to collaborate with partners to ensure that there’s a holistic program.
To ensure a coordinated effort, Madam Fofana urged everyone involved in the battle against drugs and substance misuse to get in touch with the Ministry of Health.
“The committee headed by the Ministry of health has continuously met and on Monday, they will start an assessment of all the different areas that is responsible for the issue of rehabilitation.They will mapup all the rehabilitation centers that is in the country.”
“To those of you who have been working in those line providing services for people who have find themselves in ghettos, it will be important to reach out to the Ministry of health to be able to work together.”
Madam Fofana notified the public that the 100-day deliverables for the Boakai government are progressing as planned and should be launched shortly.
The team is working on plans and initiatives, according to Madam Fofana, to guarantee that the 100-day objectives are implemented successfully.
“The hundred days deliverables will be launch upon its completion by the committee that is working on it and that will happen in a soonest possible time.”
According to the Press Secretary, a personnel audit for individuals working at the Ministry of State will be conducted this Monday, February 19, 2024, by the Civil Service Agency, the Ministry of State, and the GAC to make sure that the necessary procedures are in place.
