Rep. Yeke encourages UP to collaborate with Speaker Koffa and halt court proceedings

Monrovia, Liberia – Representative Yeke Koluba of Montserrado County District #10 has urged the Unity Party leadership to drop their lawsuit against Speaker Fonati Kofa at the civil law court.

On Monday, January 15, 2024, Yep. Kolubah said on Spoon Talk, a local radio programme in Liberia, that Cllr. Fonati Kofa is amenable to working with President-elect Joseph Boakai’s administration. He encouraged the UP administration to work with CDC speaker Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Kofa in the best interests of the country rather than taking the new house speaker to court to remove him.

“The Unity Party lawmaker is an embarrassment to the party. In my opinion, the Unity Party shouldn’t file a lawsuit because I believe the president-elect can collaborate with Fonati, and Fonati can accomplish his goals without going to court, which would be like trying to conduct a witch hunt. Going to court is not incorrect, but I believe he can work with Fonati, and if Fonati refuses to cooperate, he has other options to get him out. President George M. Weah was President-elect, and he made Bhofal Chambers Speaker.”

Representative Koluba went on to say that it is a negative indicator if Unity Party supporters are running an oppositional campaign against the candidates.

“They were embarrassing themselves by conducting a campaign against their own party. They cause the party to be embarrassed. I believe the party should act in order to serve as a deterrent for people who would want to go that riot.”
