Chairman of Senate Committee on Security warns Senator Amara Konneh to desist from posting unfriendly comments

Monrovia, Liberia – Sen. Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County has been urged to retract his statement that no Muslim has been appointed to a top ministerial position by the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Defence, Security, and Veteran Affairs, Momo Cyrus. Senator Amara Konneh has been warned by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Security to stop posting offensive comments on social media.

Senator Cyrus told legislative reporters that Senator Konneh’s assertion in a social media post borders on security implications and has the propensity to undermine peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

According to him, his committee will be seeking the indulgence of the Senate Plenary to bring his colleague to check and refrain from making such utterances.
