Pres. Boakai Returns To Liberia After A Fruitful Meeting With Ivorian Counterpart

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has returned to Liberia following a One-Day State Visit to Cote d’Ivoire, speaking to a team of Executive Mansion Reporters, President Boakai described the visit as a friendly and fruitful one.

Speaking on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Roberts International Airport, President Boakai extolled his Ivorian counterpart for their overwhelming welcome and willingness to assist Liberia in the area of Electricity, Security, and Agriculture amongst others.

President Boakai added that President Alassane Quattara has promised to continue spearheading efforts to influence Liberia’s progress.

Following their meeting, the President said that his Ivorian colleague had consented to extend its grid to Liberia in order to boost the country’s electricity supply, which will ultimately help the country’s populace as a whole.

He added that both nations are worried about the subregion’s security situation, and Ivory Coast has indicated a desire to collaborate toward bolstering the security sector.

“Cote d’Ivoire is willing to restructure and even consider to increase their megawatts they giving us. They also willing to work with us on the security line where we will have a joint security meetings.”

In order to promote growth, President Boakai pledged to collaborate with his colleague to further solidify the positive ties between the two nations.

A long history of cohabitation, intermarriages, trade, cultural exchanges, and enduring friendships characterizes the relationship between Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.

Foreign Minister Sarah Beysolow-Nyanti, Ministers Boima S. Kamara of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, J. Alexander Nuetah of Agriculture, Morley Paul Kamara, the President’s Senior Economic Advisor, and Monie R. Captan, Managing Director of Liberia Electricity, accompanied the President.

Executive Assistant to the President Morie Yuade Nemah, Presidential Press Secretary Kula B.N. Fofana, and Acting Chief of Protocol Antoinette Wolo were among other delegation members.
