President George Weah during the weekend launched an attack against opposition All Liberian Party Political Leader Benoni Urey and Senatorial Candidate Abraham Darius Dillon, at the CDC official campaign launch.
President Weah at the event referred to the ALP strong man as thief and killer parading with no history of winning election.
According to him, the Urey family is not associated with victory, thus noting that no member of Bennoi Urey’s family will win any election in Liberia while he Weah still exist on the Liberian political scene.
He further stated that it was through his intervention that the travel ban on Benoni Urey by the United Nations was lifted.
Weah:
“I came here to make fuss today… In fact, that’s why I came with my own cars and not government cars… I want to speak like George Weah and not President Weah,” he said.
Benoni Urey is not associated with victory, the only thing I recall for Urey is that when he wanted to leave from UN sanction list, he came to me and I helped him make his first foreign trip.
“This is a man that has never won anything, he supported his brother I defeated him, get ready tightened your belts, there is no way the Ureys can win election in Montserrado County because they are wicked people.
We are cockroaches but they are killers, we are cockroaches, they are thieves,” President Weah said.
BENONI UREY’s RESPONSE
Meanwhile, Benoni Urey has denied claims made by President Weah he assisted to removal of Urey’s name from the UN travel ban.
“It is regrettable that the President of Liberia will stoop to that level. Now the Liberian people can see the gravity of the problems in our country. Today, my heart bleeds for Liberia. “God have mercy on Liberia.”
He furthered promised not return harsh utterances to President Weah, but said he is considering legal actions.
“I am viewing all legal options as this is a treat on my family and we don’t take it lightly.
I view the President’s utterances as a threat on my family.”
It can be recalled, December 23, 2013, the United Nations Security Council delisted Benoni Urey from both its travel and assets freeze ban, and declared that he no longer posed a threat to Liberia’s security due to the vested interest he has in the country.
Weah on Dillon
Further engaging in personal attack, President Weah said Senatorial Candidate Abraham Darius Dillon is a high school dropout who must be rejected on July 8.
He mentioned that he was accused by others including the likes of Darius Dillon for being uneducated, but took up the challenge to go back to school.
While terming Dillon as a 9th grade dropped out, President Weah said the four opposition collaborating political parties mismanaged government resources.
“Tell Dillon to go back to school, let justice be done to all men; what was not allowed for me should not be allowed for Dillon.”
At the same time, President Weah has distanced his government from the misuse of the missing 16 billon Liberian Dollars, noting that right thieves will soon be made known to the country
Dillon’s Response
The Montserrado County Senatorial Candidate Darius Dillon has blasted President George Weah over comments attributed to the Liberian leader against him during the Coalition for Democratic Change campaign rally at the weekend.
Darius Dillon said President Weah, who is so much educated cannot compose himself as compared to him.
He challenged President Weah to come in the public to face him in an open debate.
This is an open challenge to President Weah. Let President Weah and I go on broad street with pen and line-less sheet and sit a public test, no spying, no helping and see who is more educated.
The President doe not even understand the definition of the word Education.
President Weah who describes himself as man of virtue and as per his status is now behaving like kid who does not have regard for himself.
He asserted that no wonder why the BBC in a recent drama performance referred to Weah as a resident president.
The Liberty Party Candidate maintained that President Weah is afraid of him because he President Weah does not want him to win the senatorial race.
He assured himself of a victory in the pending senatorial by election slated for July 8, 2019.
