Liberian Senate Secretariat Releases 16 Bills Pending Concurrence

Monrovia-The Liberian senate secretariat has released names of sixteen senate bills pending before the House of Representatives for concurrence.

According to a senate release issued Wednesday, some of the bills currently before the House of Representatives for concurrence include a bill to ratify the concession agreement between the Republic of Liberia and Liberia Cocoa Corporation.

The two bills were sponsored by the Executive and passed into law by the Liberian senate in September and October 2014 respectively.

Other bills pending concurrence are the Affirmative Action for Equitable Participation and Representative Act of 2016, the Presidential Transition Act of 2017, and an Act Creating the Weasuah Chiefdom and Takpoima Clan for the Governance of same within Gbarpolu County.

These acts were sponsored by former Bong County Senator, Jewel Howard Taylor, River Gee County Senator Conmany Wesseh and Senator Daniel Naathan of Gbarpolu County.

According to the release, the Liberian senate secretariat has also named the bill to require confirmation of all presidential nominees, an act which determines the status of political parties, organizations and independent Candidates which failed to attain a minimum percentage of votes in elections as well as a bill creating Gongbayai administrative district for the governance of same in Gbarpolu County amongst others are still pending the concurrence by the House.

The bills were sponsored by Sinoe County senator Milton Teahgay, Grand Cape Mount County Senator Varney Sherman and former pro-tempore Armah Jallah of Gbarpolu County.
