Kolleh’s resignation Wednesday comes after months of internal wrangling, a situation that nearly paralyze the activities of the MRUYP.
It can be recalled in May 2018, Kolleh was accused of allegedly withdrawing US$20,000 from the Parliament’s account, which he denied.
The MRU Speaker distanced himself from the allegation, stating that he knows nothing about the disappearance of the said amount from the account of the Parliament. He added that the decision taken by some of his colleagues to have him removed from the speaker-ship will not succeed.
TIn his response to the accusation the embattled MRU Speaker said he received a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports about the misappropriation of monies that were allotted for activities of the Parliament and said he has not received funds from any institution.
“I do not know anything about receiving money from any institution; what people are saying is just meant to spoil my character,” he said, calling on members of the Parliament and the youthful populace to ignore those he described as detractors.
Recently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports restored calm, mandating the divided groups to disembark and focus on the forward march of the institution.
But, Speaking minutes after his resignation, the Former Mano River Union Youth Parliament said one individual could not achieve all in leadership.
Lauding Local and International partners, he added that the remaining funding as provided by Carter Center for the Peace Action Network project remains within the institution’s account for execution by the incoming leadership.
OK FM understands that James Kolleh resigned two years into his four years of leadership.
