Monrovia,Liberia: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, President George Weah says the health facility to be constructed for AFL personnel will be named the 14th Military Hospital.

At ceremonies marking this year’s Armed Forces Day, President Weah said his government would construct what he called the first military hospital under his administration.

Even though Liberians are yet to be informed about the estimated cost of the hospital, Monday marked exactly six weeks since the public pronouncement by the Liberian leader.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony Monday on the RIA highway in Margibi County, President Weah said when completed, the facility would be named the 14th Military Hospital in honor of the number Weah wore during his professional football career.

The government has already set aside 200 thousand US dollars in the recast budget for feasibility studies of the estimated 250 bedroom hospital although grounds have already been broken.

Some analysts say this runs contrary to established development procedures but others argue that President Weah is being proactive and breaking away from the norms of old.
