Monrovia-Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA) has broken ground for the construction of a 5.5 kilo meter road to from Mbaloma Town to the Kahai River Lukambeh District, Lofa County.

The 5.5 Kilometer road project is being implemented by the RREA, with funding from the World Bank.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, the Project Director, Augustus Quannu said the gency has contracted the Shaki Sam Fawaz (SSF) road construction company to construct the 5.5 kilo meter road from Mbaloma Town leading to the water fall at the Kahai River where a hydro will be built.
Mr. Quannu noted that the hydro if constructed would provide electricity to Foya, Kolahun, Massambolahun, Voinjama and Mbaloma along with its surrounding towns and villages.
“The best way people can feel development is to focus one area and make sure people feel the impact. So, that is why we decided to look in Lofa where we believed there is a need for raod connectivity and electricity.”
Speaking on behalf of the County Administration, Lofa County Superintendent William Tamba Kamba commended the World Bank for supporting the government’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development and also lauded the implementing Agency RREA for extending the electricity project to the county.
Superintendent Kamba called on would-be beneficiaries, while calling on citizens to see the project as an opportunity and take ownership.
“It is good for us to be part of history making. In so doing, this is an opportunity that we as citizens of Lofa County must make maximum use of. If must achieve this project, it is important that we provide physical support to the implementing agency, he stated”
Also making remarks on behalf of chiefs, the Paramount Chief of Wanhasa District, Morris Soway expressed joy for the electricity and the road network projects.
“We thank God for empowering the World Bank to send this project to us; because, this is about bringing the government to the poor people. Our people living in this remote part of the district hearing about light coming to them, i mean they are so grateful. We promised to work with the implementing partners.”
