Liberia’s Chief Justice Francis Korkpor, who is also the Presiding Officer in the impeachment trial of Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh Tuesday denied a request filed by prosecution lawyers, craving the trashing of the testimonies of former Associate Justice Philip Banks.
Former Associate Justice Banks who is currently on the witness stand was subpoenaed to testify as an expert witness on the constitutionality of the impeachment trial.
The Former Associate Justice in his testimony recorded missteps in the ongoing impeachment trial.
But a prosecution lawyer representing the House of Representatives Cllr. Albert Sims following the testimony provided by the former Associate Justice Tuesday called on the Presiding Officer to dismiss the expert witness’ testimony.
Counselor Sims in his argument mentioned that the testimony provided by former Associate Justice Banks does not seem to be an expert testimony on the constitutionality of the impeachment trial.
He disclosed that though the Former Associate Justice teaches constitutional law at Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, he does not have a degree in constitutional Law.
The Counselor furthered that the testimony brought forth by the expert witness was one sided and speaks in the favor of embattled Associate Justice Ja’neh who is facing impeachment trial at the senate.
