Speaker Chambers assertions come in the wake of a challenged economic sector that is experiencing an unprecedented rise in the Liberian to United States dollars exchange rate and hike in the prices of local commodities.

At a news conference over the weekend in Monrovia, Speaker Chambers added that the legalization of the United States dollars as Liberia’s currency could further control the economic situation.

The Speaker recounted Liberia’s introduction of the USD currency in the late 1980s thus stabilizing the country’s economy.

Speaker Chambers blamed former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the current economic problems but left out the Liberian Legislature which has the power to pass laws, rectify contracts and agreement as well pass budgets.

“I have had some principled differences with former President Sirleaf.  However, casting a 380-degree blame on her when things go wrong just because she was the president of the country just doesn’t cut it.”

To address and refocus the Liberian economy requires having a responsible and serious legislature. The Speaker perhaps can help in ensuring this happens.

According to him, the Former Liberian Leader created an economic gold-lock.

He defined a gold- lock as a system were labor camps were created and maintained in the former Soviet Union between 1930- 1935 which subsequently led to extreme hardship and death of the regime challenger.

The Liberian Speaker has revealed that Former President Sirleaf did not declare her asset up to present.

He challenged those claiming that the Ex- Liberian President declared her asset to make public supporting documents.
