MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s reserve has been estimated at a little over 5 million 637 thousand, 941 United States dollars and 534 million 146 thousand 445 Liberian dollars in government’s covers, with 161 million in foreign reserves.
The disclosure was made Thursday by authorities of the Central Bank of Liberia, the Ministry of Finance and the Liberia Revenue Authority when they appeared before the plenary of the House of Representatives.
The appearance of the three institutions at the Liberian House of Representatives was triggered by a previous communication from Montserrado County District 16 Representative Dixon Sebo over conflicting accounts provided by both President George Weah and Ex- President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
President Weah in his state of the nation address told Liberians that he inherited a broken economy, a statement Ex- President Sirleaf trashed; informing the BBC that she left behind a sum of 150 million.
The state of affairs has left a doubt in the minds of Citizens, with many casting blame on the past and current administration.
But during the hearing which was already completed in executive session by directive of House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, CBL Governor Milton Weeks maintained that the accounts cover January 22, 2018 to present.
