Monrovia, Liberia– President George Weah has submitted the 2017/2018 recast budget to the House of Representatives for revision.
The recast budget is estimated at a little over 563.5 million previously approved by the 53rd legislature to facilitate government’s operations and undertake needed public sector investments.
President Weah in a communication to the House of Representatives Thursday added that since the passage by the 53rd there has been a drastic decline in the prices of major export commodities.
President Weah added that the revision will align expenditure with revised revenue projections.
The President’s communication read by the House’s Deputy Chief Clerk wants a timely passage of the recast budget to allow the implementation of the government’s pro- poor agenda.
Meanwhile the committees on Ways, Means and Finance and Public Accounts are expected to review the recast budget and report on Tuesday.
