Education Ministry Signs MOU With UNICEF To Support Early Childhood Development

 Monrovia, Liberia -The Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support Early Childhood Development, Water and Sanitation for Health (WASH) in schools across the country.

UNICEF is one of the Ministry of Education’s key partners, providing crucial support for Early Childhood Education in Liberia.

In signing the MOU Thursday, March 1, 2018, UNICEF expressed its continued support for the Ministry of Education to improve the quality of learning in Liberia.

The memorandum of understanding is expected to boost the already poor condition of the Country’s education system which has been widely termed as messy.

Newly appointed Minister of Education, Professor Ansu D. Sonii, Sr. expressed profound gratitude to UNICEF for their support, and committed the Ministry of Education team to work collectively to achieve the objectives of the MOU.
Professor Sonii furthered assured a vibrant Educational sector under his administration as Minister, while encouraging UNICEF and other partners to continue their support for positive Educational change in Liberia.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Education head office in Monrovia.
