Constitutional Crisis looms as NEC postpones By-Elections for Second time

The National Elections Commission has confirmed it will not hold the Montserrado County senatorial and district #15 representative  by-elections on July 8, 2019.

This disclosure was made in Monrovia Thursday, July 4, by Henry Flomo, the Director of Communications at the NEC.

Henry Flomo said the NEC board of Commissioners is now holding consultation to set new by elections date no later than July 20.

Director Flomo indicated that the postponement of the elections is due to delay in bringing into the country some pre-parked kits containing the materials to be used on the day of the elections.

According to him, the ballot papers for both the senatorial and representative by-elections are already in the country.

political parties have already been informed about the circumstances confronting the conduct of the by elections. We are continuing the training of poll workers at various locations in Montserrado County.

NEC assures the public that it remains committed to conducting free, fair, transparent, and credible by-elections.

The Postponement of the July 8 senatorial and Representative by elections in district#15 Montserrado County is the second time after the commission earlier announced July 2 for the elections.

The first postponement of the by elections was as a result of the delay of the CDC led government to fund the process in a timely manner.
