Drug users in Liberia to petition President Weah for their inclusion in the Pro-Poor Agenda

Monrovia: Over three thousand drug users from thirty five ghettos in Liberia are expected to petition President George Weah about their commitment to make Liberia a drug free society.

The petition march which is coordinated by the West Africa Network of CSOs on Substance Abuse in collaboration with the Consolidated Youth for Peace & Development and the Association of Progressive Youth of Liberia is schedule for November 12.

Speaking ahead of the event, some disadvantaged Youths stated that article 17 of the Constitution of Liberia guarantees their right to peaceful assembly.

SiahGbolee and MichealDixson assured the people of Liberia that their plan protest will be peaceful and well-coordinated.

“We invite you today to emphasize our commitment to making Liberia a drug free Society. Our quest to support a petition match and presentation to president George Weah remain unbending and uncompromising. Our October 29, planned protestion is now scheduled for Novemmber 12,2018. This rescheduled is due to the delay in the issuance of permit by the ministry of Justice in Liberia. 

Also speaking officials of WANCSA and COYPED called on government to prioritize a rehabilitation center for disadvantaged youths in the country.

According to them the plan march is captioned “Operation Restores Hope” and it is also intended to showcase that disadvantaged youths are Heroes.

James Koryourand Ruben Logan disclosed that those generally termed as zogoes too can contribute to the Pro-Poor Agenda.
