The Government of India has presented a grant valued at Two Million United States Dollars to the Government of Liberia to finance the completion of the 14 Military Hospitals in the country.

Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley signed on behalf of the Liberian Government while the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Liberia, Sailas Thangal signed for his government.

Liberia’s Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley Speaking on behalf of President George Manneh Weah, and the people of Liberia, extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Indian Government and people for the grant.

Minister Findley stressed that the money will be used to facilitate the completion of some critical facilities at the 14 Military Hospital currently under construction.

He also expressed Liberia’s deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Prime Minister and the Government of India for this laudable gesture, describing it as a remarkable assistance to Liberia.

Liberia and India continue to enjoy fruitful bilateral relations over the years with both sides renewing cooperation in other fields of diplomatic engagements.

So, Liberia is grateful to the Government and people of India for the continuous support in strengthening our country’s peace and stability.

We have vowed to protect and defend our citizens. And the citizens need to understand that they have to get that respect and dignity for our ambassadors and other foreign partners.

For his part, Indian Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Sailas Thangal said the USD two Million Grant is part of India’s continual bilateral assistance to the Government of Liberia aimed at supporting its developmental drive in the framework of the existing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Ambassador Thangal said the Indian Government is interested in seeing the 14 Military Hospital completed as soon as possible so as to ensure that personnel of the AFL and their families get improved health facilities to meet their health needs.

I am just happy that both Liberia and India could come together and build on one of the dream projects of the Minister to complete the 14th military Hospital.

I must also say from the side of the Indian Government, the 50 vehicles which were promised by India’s foreign Minister who visited Liberia recently will also be soon coming.
