MONROVIA: Liberia’s proposal for a comprehensive review of the Maritime Special Provisions in the IMDG Code has gained support at the International Maritime Organization.
The support comes amidst tense discussions at the ongoing 6th session of the Sub-committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers at IMO headquarters in London.
Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the IMO Isaac Jackson has been arguing for a total review of the Maritime Special Provisions in the IMDG.
Mr. Jackson said, the document when considered will serve as a major accomplishment for the Liberian Delegation at the IMO.
When asked about the Government denying him and his family traveling documents to come for the burial of his Wife’s mother; Jackson said that he was deeply hurt.
He indicated that it was sad that the government was effectively disobeying its own Supreme’s Court Stay Order and continuously abusing the rights of he and his family.
However, the IMO representative who is yet to get his salary and benefits for months stated that he would speak on the issue later through official government channel.
